Notes:

  1. The first two infant children (Christoph & Baby Girl) were originally buried on lot 6E. A sketch in the cemetery records indicates that all four infants likely were buried on plots c & d.

  2. Magdalene (Leidig) Ellinger was the youngest of four sisters who came from Germany to the Old Salem Kirche community in 1889 and 1890. Two of her sisters, Rosine (Leidig) Haberoth and Margarethe (Leidig) Brotzler, are also buried in Old Salem Kirchof. Rosine is buried in lot 66 and Margarethe is buried in lot 31. The fourth sister, Barbara (Leidig) Engel/Schmid, is buried at Riverview Cemetery. Read more about the Leidig sisters.

Plot 38A: Christoph Ellinger, 1896-1896 (3/3/1896 - 3/3/1896)

Christoph Ellinger was born in Inver Grove Township March 2nd 1896 of parents Christian and Magdalene (Leidig) Ellinger. The infant died of unknown causes after only one day of life on March 3rd 1896. Christoph was interred in lot 6E (later moved to lot 38) of Salem EV Kirchhof. [IGT]

Plot 38B: Baby Girl Ellinger, 1897-1897 (3/3/1897 - 3/3/1897)

Baby Girl Ellinger was born March 2nd 1897 in Inver Grove Township of parents Christian and Magdalene (Leidig) Ellinger. The infant died of unknown causes after only one day of life on March 3rd 1897. She was interred in lot 6E, grave 11, row 2 (later moved to lot 38) of Salem EV Kirchhof. [IGT]

Plot 38C: Baby Boy Ellinger, 1899-1899 (1/3/1899 - 1/4/1899)

Baby Boy Ellinger was born January 3rd 1899 in Inver Grove Township of parents Christian and Magdalene (Leidig) Ellinger. The infant died of unknown causes after only one day of life on January 4th 1899 and was interred in lot 38 of Salem EV Kirchhof. [IGT]

Plot 38D: Christof Ellinger, 1905-1905 (4/23/1905 - 4/24/1905)

Christof Ellinger was born April 23rd 1905 in Inver Grove Township of parents Christian and Magdalene (Leidig) Ellinger. The infant died of unknown causes after nearly one day of life on April 24th 1905. Christof was interred in lot 38 of Salem EV Kirchhof. [IGT][1905-MN-391685]

Plot 38E: Magdalene M. (Leidig) Ellinger, 1871-1927 (8/31/1871 – 3/10/1927)

Ellinger – Magdalene “Lena” M. (Leidig), In West Saint Paul, March 10, 1927, Magdalene, age 55 years, beloved wife of Christof Ellinger, mother of Lillian, Marie, Martha and Alma. Funeral from Winifred Street Evangelical Church, Bancroft and Winifred Streets, Sunday March 13th, at 2:30 p.m. Interment Salem Cemetery. Plot 38F: Christof C. Ellinger, 1864-1955 (4/8/1864 – 3/11/1955)

Ellinger – Christof George, Rites Held For C.G. Ellinger, 90. Funeral services for Christof G. Ellinger, 90, of 451 E. Butler, were held Monday, March 14, at 2 p.m. from the Faith United Evangelical United Brethren Church, Winifred and Bancroft with burial in Salem Evangelical Church Cemetery, Dakota County. Arrangements were by the Johnson-Peterson Funeral Home. Born April 8, 1864, in Germany, Mr. Ellinger came to the United States at the age of 21 years and settled in Dakota County. He had been a resident of West Saint Paul for the past 46 years and retired in 1941, Mr. Ellinger died on Friday, March 11, at Riverview Memorial Hospital following an illness of about three months. Surviving are four daughters, Misses Lillian, Marie, and Alma Ellinger, all of West Saint Paul and Mrs. C.W. Ellstrom of Saint Paul and a sister, Mrs. Christine Sievers of Farmington. Services at the Faith Evangelical U.B. Church, Winifred & Bancroft at Monday, July 9th at 2 p.m. Visitation at the Johnson-Peterson Funeral Home, 612 S. Smith Ave., after 2 p.m. and 10:30 a.m. Monday and 1 hour preceding services at the church. Interment Salem Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated.
