Notes:

  1. Because of the lack of markers, burials may not be accurate relative to specific grave sites.

  2. Adam Laschinger was one of the first settlers in Dakota County, Minnesota Territory, arriving shortly after the county was officially opened for settlement in 1855. He and his family along with the Michael Gackstetter family settled on adjoining 80-acre parcels north of today’s Upper 55th St. Michael Gackstetter was instrumental in bringing Rev. Andrew Tarnutzer to Dakota County. Rev.Tarnutzer was the first pastor of the Evangelical Church to arrive in the area. He held an organizational meeting on March 2, 1857, at the Michael Gackstetter home. From this meeting emerged the founding congregation of Salem Kirche, which included the families of Michael Gackstetter, Adam Laschinger, George Glassing, Frederick Goldberg, Charles Kachel, John Kochendorfer, Gottfried Schmidt, Heinrich Schafer, John Simon and Frederick Zehnder.

  3. Evidence suggests that Maratha Eby Laschinger died in childbirth and the child, Daniel, was stillborn or died shortly after birth, with mother and child buried in the same grave. Martha’s husband, Daniel, died in Oregon forty-one years after her death.
