Plot E: George Adam Glassing, 1827-1899 (6/5/1827 – 6/2/1899)
Glassing – George Adam Mr. George Adam Glassing died at the home of Dr. G.A. Bender Friday at 7 a.m. He was born June 5th, 1827, in Steinbach, Württemberg, and at his death was 72 years of age. The deceased had been ill for the past two years, but was unusually well Tuesday morning. He left for Saint Paul in order to have a number of teeth pulled. He called on his nephew, Dr. G.A. Bender, where he was suddenly overtaken by apoplexy, and at once passed away. He was one of Inver Grove’s most prosperous farmers, having lived there for the past 35 years. Mr. Glassing immigrated to America in 1852 and settled in Rochester, NY, March 22, 1859, and moved the same year to Minnesota and settled in Inver Grove. He served in the Civil War. Mr. Glassing joined the German Evangelical Church and was an active member until his death. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church Monday at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Manthey officiating. Pallbearers were: A. Schoch, A. Lick, C. Klein, F. Zehnder, J. Rolfing, C. Schmid. The remains were interred at the family lot in the cemetery of the Evangelical Church. He leaves a heart broken wife, one son, George J., of Northfield, and Mrs. C. Fredericks of Hutchinson, besides a large circle of relatives and friends who are left to mourn his departure. Glassing, on the German Road. Thursday, October 19, 1911, at 2 p.m. Services at the Evangelical German Salem Church at 2:30 p.m. Interment at Inver Grove. Mrs. G. A. Glassing, an old resident of Dakota County, died at her home in Inver Grove on Monday, after a protracted illness, aged seventy-two years. Glassing – Anna (Seitz), Mrs. George Glassing. Pneumonia proved fatal to Mrs. George Glassing, of the German Road, on Thursday of this week. She was 33 years of age. Besides her husband she is survived by three children and her parents. She was married seven years ago and has lived here with her husband ever since. Extra Burial (in roadway): George John Glassing, 1869-1935 (10/12/1869 - 10/2/1935)
Glassing – George John, George Glassing, 66 years old, pioneer of Inver Grove, passed away Wednesday, October 2, at the West Side General Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Glassing’s wife preceded him to the grave 16 years ago. Mr. Glassing was engaged in flower growing and truck gardening for the greater part of his life, in which he made a great success. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o’clock from his home on the German Road and at 2:30 o’clock from the Winifred Street Evangelical Church. Internment was made in the Salem Cemetery. Rev. B.C. Sievert conducted the services. Mr. Glassing is survived by two sons, George and Fred Glassing. [West Saint Paul Booster & Dakota County Globe: Fri., 11 Oct. 1935]
