Notes:

  1. Cemetery records show that Adeline Glassing was buried on lot 15. The records also show that lot 14 was purchased from the Golish family by Fred L. Glassing on 11/10/1976. Existing burials are to be respected.

  2. The Bernice and Fred Glassing monument extends 2-1/2’ into roadway 2. Probing indicates that the Bernice and Fred Glassing burial vaults are located approximately 3’ to the north of where they should be located.

OBITUARIES

Plot E: Lydia M. Golisch, 1872-1873 (11/15/1872 – 2/28/1873)

Lydia Golisch was born November 15th 1872 in Saint Paul, Minnesota of parents Wilhelm F. and Anna Lena Golisch.  She was baptized by August Knebel, then minister at the Pine Street EV Church in Saint Paul.  Lydia died February 28th 1873 and was eventually interred in lot 14 at Salem EV Kirchhof.

Plot F: Elmer John Hofert, 1887-1890 (3/28/1887 – 4/24/1890)

Hofert - Elmer John Hofert Sohn von John Hofert und seiner Gattin Lydia (geb. Langfeld) wurde geboren am 28. März 1887 zu St. Paul Minn. starb den 24. April 1890 zu Inver Grove und wurde im Salems Kirchhofe beerdigt. Seine Todesursache war Lungenfieber. Tröste der treue Gott die trauernden Eltern. Geo. Husser.

Hofert -- Elmer John Hofert, son of John Hofert and his wife Lydia (nee Langfeld) was born on the 28th of March 1887 at Saint Paul, Minnesota, died the 24th of April 1890 at Inver Grove and was interred at the Salem Churchyard. His cause of death was lung fever. Faith in God comfort the mourning parents. Geo. Husser

Plot G: Bernice O. (Newhouse) Glassing, 1921-2012 (Died 10/5/2012)

The Voice of Glassing Florist for over 50 years Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 5, 2012. Preceded in death by devoted husband of 65 years, Fred; sister, Clare Edwardson; and brother, Ervin Newhouse. Beloved mother of Bernadine "Bebe" (Shell) Gordon, Holly "Corky" (Bruce) Zschokke and Fred "Joey" (Janice) Glassing; dearest grandmother of Mary (Doug) Gerrelts, Larry (Anneliese) Glassing, Zachary Lerner, Derek (Lis), Ryan (Stephanie), Dan (Kendra), and Tara Zschokke; great-grandmother of, Christine and Joshua Gerrelts, Kate, Taylor and Jacob Zschokke, and Hagan Glassing. Also survived by sister, Lolly Schofield; sister-in-law, Juell Newhouse; many nieces, nephews and friends. Bernice was the first woman elected to District 3 & 8 School Boards and was a dedicated DARTS volunteer. Service Tuesday, 10:00 A.M. at FIRST CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 5495 South Robert Trail, Inver Grove Heights. Interment Old Salem Shrine Cemetery. Visitation Monday (TODAY), 4:00-8:00 P.M. and also one hour prior to the service.

Plot H: Fred L. Glassing, 1917-2006 (Died 2/10/2006)

Glassing, Fred L. Founder of Glassing Florist of Inver Grove Heights Age 88, passed away Feb. 10, 2006. Preceded in death by parents, George J. & Anna, and brother, George A. Survived by devoted wife of 65 years, Bernice; beloved father of Bernadine "Bebe" & husband Earl "Shell" Gordon, Holly Lynn "Corky" & husband Bruce Zschokke, and Fred Wayne "Joey" & wife Janice Glassing; dearest grandfather of Mary Christine & husband Douglas Gerrelts, Fredrick Laurence "Larry" Glassing, Zachary Dean Lerner, Derek Jay & wife Elisabeth Zschokke, Ryan Joseph Zschokke, Daniel James Zschokke, and Tara Lynn Zschokke; dearest great-grandfather of Christine & Joshua Gerrelts; brother-in-law, Ervin & wife Juell Newhouse; sister-in-law, Lorraine Schofield; special friends, Stephanie Quam, Hank & Muriel Sperl, and Jim & Rita Petersen; also many nieces, nephews, & friends. Our thanks to all at Southview Acres Health Care Center, especially Patrice, Patti, Marie, Betty P., Michelle, Chris, Sofia, Alma, & Martha. Visitation Wednesday from 3:00-9:00PM at the church and Thursday from Noon - 2:00PM at the church. Fred will be missed for his warm smile, hearty handshake, & sense of humor.
